This measurement system enables two different kinds of measurement modes, the reflection and the transmission, which can be selected depending on its purpose.
In both modes, the complex permittivity (εr) and complex permeability (μr) can be measured at the same time.
An absorption ratio and a reflection ratio of electromagnetic absorbers can be calculated from the complex εr and complex μr.
How to select the measurement mode is as follows.
*Reflection mode*
It is suitable for measurements of thin specimens (less than 2 mm).
It can precisely measure the specimen with small dielectric loss tangent (more than 0.01).
The number of jig can be a little.
*Transmission mode*
It is suitable for measurements of thick specimens (more than 2 mm).
The specimen must have relatively large dielectric loss tangent (0.1 or more).
You will come to need additional jig other than *Reflection mode jig*.
Measurements are controlled with a computer as follows:
*Dilectric constant, dielectric loss tangent and complex ur are graphed with the horizontal axis of frequency on the display.
All data can be taken out corresponding to Excel.
Therefore, use to the data processing and the thesis description, etc. is easy.
*The measurement by the free space method becomes possible by adding the measurement kit.

How to caribrate

Calibration of Vector network analyzer should be made first in the testing.
The calibration is a complete method to correct Vector errors by using Open, Short, Load and through. Coaxial tube' open or short is a fixed type.
Measurement of specimen is made after the test kit is calibrated.
And calibration of the test kit is usually made in Open and Short with the test kit.
